Built-in iOS player

The reviewed iOS line is based on MobileVLCKit 3.7.3, libVLC, and FFmpeg. BEAM builds this framework locally from pinned source; the release pipeline only downloads and verifies the one-time build. It never recompiles libVLC.

The replacement candidate 3.7.3-beam.2 completed a fresh local build, exact per-dependency notice/SBOM review, and the automated engineering audits described below. The protected release pipeline independently rechecks these materials and the final signed app. Copyright-license engineering evidence is not a substitute for export-control, codec-patent, trademark, or qualified legal advice.

MobileVLCKit, libVLC, and the selected FFmpeg configuration contain code offered under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later; their dependencies retain their own licenses. BEAM excludes GPL-marked VLC modules, GPL/nonfree FFmpeg configurations, and the GPL-licensed libzvbi dependency from this proprietary application candidate.

Copyright in MobileVLCKit, VLC/libVLC, FFmpeg, and their dependencies belongs to their respective authors and contributors. Original notices are preserved in the exact corresponding-source package. BEAM's changes are identified by the included patches and build manifest.

iOS 3.7.3-beam.2 files

These immutable files correspond to the locally built candidate. Verify a download with SHA-256 before relying on it.

The audit records 61 contrib archive names in each of the device arm64 and simulator arm64/x86_64 slices. It classifies 240 semantic VLC plugin archives: 232 LGPL-marked modules were selected and eight GPL-marked modules were excluded. The separate telx module remains available. No zVBI download, contrib archive, VLC module, or final _vbi_* symbol appears in the candidate evidence.

The dependency inventory binds all 61 linked archive names to 45 exact source tarballs and 58 upstream notice files. It also records that Libgcrypt and libssh2 implement standard cryptography, so BEAM does not describe this app as containing no encryption. Apple export compliance is handled independently in App Store Connect.

Corresponding source intentionally includes the complete pinned upstream source trees and build recipes. Those trees can contain unused GPL-licensed files or zVBI-related recipes; their presence in a source package does not mean they were fetched or linked into the candidate. The source manifest and audit bundle distinguish retained source from actual build inputs and final binary content.

Your rights

You may use, study, modify, and replace the LGPL-covered library under its license. BEAM permits reverse engineering as necessary to debug your modifications to that library. Replacing a framework inside an iOS app invalidates Apple's signature, so installing a modified copy requires rebuilding or re-signing the app with an Apple identity you control. The versioned replacement guide and offline rebuild helper above describe the tested engineering path. A re-signable development/relink bundle is available on request for at least three years after the last distribution of this version.

The LGPL does not grant access to BEAM servers, signing identities, store accounts, or proprietary source code outside the LGPL-covered component.

Android and TV builds

BEAM TV for Android and BEAM TV Full use a separately source-built libVLC 3.7.5 candidate. BEAM TV Lite does not bundle libVLC and instead hands playback to a separately installed VLC for Android app. The Android corresponding-source delivery package is still being finalized and is not represented here as complete. Until the immutable package is posted, recipients may request the exact source, patches, and build scripts for their distributed version by email.
